The Contour-X, like every Arai helmet, is primarily focused on protection. Manufactured by hand, the outer shell maintains its core strength while undergoing a substantial weight reduction. The smooth, round shape is a signature Arai design, intended to 'glance-off' and disperse impact forces. To ensure the best quality, each Arai helmet goes through a rigorous five-step quality control process.
The logo duct, placed at the top of the helmet, functions well at low speeds and with an upright riding position. It can be easily opened or closed, even with summer or winter gloves, using a short-stroke lever. If the rider cannot see the lever and the logo is in its normal place, the duct is open.
The 3D ARAI logo duct, measuring just 3.5 mm in depth, feeds two central 10 mm intake ports. This logo duct is designed to break away in the event of an impact, ensuring it does not compromise the helmet's protective performance.
Inspired by the DF-X2 of the Corsair-X, the one-piece aerodynamic rear exhaust/spoiler is operated by a 3-way switch and has been redesigned for touring use. This feature is DOT Approved and meets FMVSS 218 Standards.
The aerodynamic rear spoiler, positioned slightly forward on the shell, is fed by three ports and efficiently draws air. It also helps to smooth airflow over and around the helmet, improving stability and reducing buffeting, especially at highway speeds, resulting in decreased rider fatigue.
Manufactured to be as thin and light as possible, the aerodynamic rear spoiler is designed to crush or break away upon impact, ensuring it has no negative impact on the helmet's protective capabilities.
The sliding chin vent actuating mechanism is thicker and easy to use with gloves. It has been designed to accommodate the easy fitment and connection of a communication system on the shell exterior, without compromising the protection offered by the inner EPS liner.
